Gymnastics Beat aims to keep kids fit

Classes are designed to promote self-confidence, coordination, increase strength, flexibility and burn calories all while having fun.

Northwest Fresno’s newest gym, Gymnastics Beat, is doing its part to support healthy lifestyles for families in a safe, friendly and fun environment.

California children are increasingly overweight, according to a recent study released by the California Center for Public Health Advocacy. In Fresno, 30.5 percent of children are overweight. This is a major issue that will have health effects long into the future.

Gymnastics Beat is striving to curb this growing epidemic by providing wonderful classes for boys and girls and abilities from 12 months to adult.

Classes are designed to promote self- confidence, coordination, increase strength, flexibility and burn calories, all while having fun.

Programs include: Mommy & Me classes; pre- kindergarten; beginning, intermediate and advanced gymnastic classes; competitive gymnastics; pep and cheerleading; and adult gym.

Gymnastics Beat includes an adult workout area for parents with treadmills, an elliptical machine, weight bench, free weights and more at no cost.

Parents can get fit while watching their children have fun in their classes.

Other activities include Parents’ Night Out, Halloween Fest, winter camp, dance classes taught by former Dallas Cowboy’s cheerleader, Cheri Urie, massage therapy and private birthday parties.

Parents’ Night Out allows parents to enjoy a fun evening out or a quiet evening at home while their children enjoy themselves at Gymnastics Beat’s Halloween Fest from 6 to 10 p. m. Oct. 21 and 28.

Activities include gymnastics, trampoline, a “haunted house,” face painting, goodie bags and much more. Cost is $20, $15 for members. The event is for ages 4 to 12.
