Coach Scott

Background:
Scott has been involved in the sport of Gymnastics for over 25 years. He trained in competitive gymnastics for 10 years in Northern California. Although he doesn't talk about it much, Scott is our highest achieving competitive gymnast! He was the 2000 Level 8 Region 1 All-Around champion. Coach Scott teaches the competitive girls gymnastics team, as well as all of the boys gymnastics classes and a few upper level tumbling.

Coach Samantha
Comes to Gymnastics Beat from:
Los Banos, CA

Background:
Samantha started acrobatics at the age of 5. She only spent a small amount of time on the pre-team until she joined the competition team. After joining the team her Acro career took off and she has never looked back! She trained for 6 years in Southern California by top Acro coaches, having won numerous National Championships. Samantha has placed 6th in Belgium and 4th in Jr. World's in Portugal in 2006. Her Acrobatic skills served her well as a cheerleader in High School and at Fresno State where she cheered for 3 years and served as captain in her last year.

Coach Shawn
Comes to Gymnastics Beat from:

Background:
Shawn loves to trick! No, not magic tricks; martial arts tricking. His love for it began in 2009 with Coach Jordan and they still continue to practice it today. They enjoy recording their tricks and editing them with music to make videos. Shawn has developed an interest in editing and filming in his free time. Coach Shawn’s love of adventure makes him a great addition to the Gym Beat coaching staff. When he is not out perfecting his skills as a coach, Shawn can be found reading in his downtime.

Coach Brandon

Background:
Coach Brandon has a love of learning. He is intrigued by illusions and magic. He would love to show you one of his tricks if you ask! But that’s not all Brandon has up his sleeve. In his leisure time, you can find him rock climbing, dirt biking, and of course honing his tumbling skills at Gymnastics Beat. In high school, Brandon was active in the FFA.

Favorite Event:
Tumbling! When he’s not coaching, Brandon can be found perfecting his tumbling skills on one of our two spring floors.

Coach Jill
Comes to Gymnastics Beat from:
North Fork, CA

Background:
Jill began her gymnastics career at the age of 6 and began coaching in the 7th grade. She found Gymnastics Beat in August of 2011. Jill sits on the Board of Directors for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing Service Center of Fresno and is the Grant Monitoring Chair as well as the Fundraising Chair.

She has been in the sport of gymnastics for 17 years. Other sports she has been active in are: Softball (16 years), volleyball (10 years), and hiking. She LOVES scrapbooking and just being crafty. As a 2 time liver recipient she has had the opportunity to compete in the Transplant Games. In July of 2012 she came home with 8 gold medals (2 swimming, 6 track & field).

Coach Thad
Comes to Gymnastics Beat from:
Oakland, CA

Background:
Thad considers himself a "Jack of All Trades." While at Fresno City College he studied Psychology, Visual Art, Philosophy, Automotive and Industrial. While Thad has a variety of hobbies, his passion lies with Motorsport; having partaken in Auto Cross and Wheel to Wheel Racing. He is the Chief of Safety for the Fresno Chapter of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). His background also includes a number of Martial Arts disciplines which aid in his coaching style. Thad has competed on American Ninja Warrior! His martial arts accomplishments are as follows:

-Kendo (Japanese Fencing)
-Ni-Dan (2nd Degree Black Belt)
-Iaido (Sword based Martial Art)
-Ikkyu (1st Degree Black Belt)

Thad has experience, but no ranking (yet) in Tae Kwan Do, SAMBO (Russian Martial Art, similar to Ju Jitsu), and American Kenopo Karate. Thad has been a finalist on American Ninja Warrior on NBC.

Anything he can climb, jump, or flip off of!
