Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of classes does Gymnastics Beat offer?

Gymnastics Beat's main focus is fun, recreational 55-minute classes. For ages 6 and up, we offer classes on Tumbling, Gymnastics, Urban Gymnastics, and Acrobatics. Also in the recreational category, we have a program called GymBeat Jr. devoted to children ages 5 and under. GymBeat Jr. classes include Parent & Me, Pre-K, and Beginning. We also offer private lessons to all ages.

In addition, Gymnastics Beat has 3 teams - Power Cheerleading, Artistic Gymnastics, and AcroBeat - Acrobatic Gymnastics. These teams have multiple practices a week, encouraging children to reach their best athletic potential. The team coaches must first evaluate children interested in joining the team.

What is the difference between gymnastics and tumbling?

Gymnastics classes are designed for students to learn skills on all gymnastics apparatus including: floor (tumbling), bars, rings, beam, & vault. The classes are divided into two 20-minute rotations to ensure that students have a chance to work on all apparatus.

Tumbling classes focus on tumbling skills such as rolls, cartwheels, standing backbends & kick-overs, round-offs, back handsprings, back tucks, etc. During tumbling classes, students will also rotate to the tumble track and trampoline for one 20-minute rotation per class.

What class should my child take if he/she wants to learn back handsprings?

Our Tumbling program focuses on teaching back handsprings. If your child is a beginner, Tumbling Level 1 will teach tumbling skills including rolls, cartwheels, round-offs, handstands, standing back-bends and the basics of back handsprings. Once your child can do all of the basics, Level 2 focuses on back handspring technique. Level 3 develops your child's skills even further to performing moves like back tucks and aerials.
